Surroundings is a project taking inspiration from the natural world around us in an effort to bring a reminder of our local natural surroundings into peoples’ indoor and everyday lives. We have depended on the world’s natural resources since time began and over time that relationship has become fractured; pollution, hunting and overfishing, and deforestation, combined with many other aspects of modern big city living have all worked to remove us from our natural heritage.

Hardy, heritage fabrics like linen and wool are digitally printed with glitched photographic images then overprinted by hand with varying strengths of discharge paste to create layers of texture using hand drawn marks and imagery. Surroundings is designed with an interiors and home furnishings context in mind, bringing natural imagery into contemporary, big city homes in an aesthetically intriguing way.
